About Refugee Community Kitchen

​Refugee Community Kitchen provides healthy food to communities in Northern France and on the streets of the UK. In France we work across different sites in Calais and Grand Synthe, distributing by van with a team of around 5 volunteers led by long term volunteers. Our food services are approximately 2 hours long & our aim is to create a dignified service offering a variety of nutritious culturally familiar food, tea, water & condiments to people in need.

Role: Calais Field Coordinator

Start date: Open Application

Based in: Calais, Northern France

Contract type: Full-time position - 5 days per week.

Job Description: The Calais Field Coordinator organises all aspects of our distributions, our logistics with other organisations and caring for our distribution practices. The essence of the role is oversee, delegate & communicate. Keeping the remit and core values alive in all aspects of the project. As well as continuing to provide healthy nutritious food to people who need it and supporting the volunteers to be safe, happy and healthy.

Requirement & Commitment:

Essential

  • Have a minimum of six months of experience of working with an NGO in the field or six months being a long term volunteer with Refugee Community Kitchen in Calais.

  • Driver - with clean drivers license 

  • Minimum of Eight months commitment ( preferably 1 year) (5 volunteering days and 2 days off each week)

  • Good command of English language with good communication skills.

  • Ability to travel to France (Schengen area) as required

    Desirable

  • Knowledge & passion for world food

  • Good use of French language

Responsibilities: 

To oversee that the field team tasks are completed (not doing them all in isolation). 

  • To ensure that all field lead training is thorough and up to high standards.

  • To create clear handovers when training new coordinators or when team members are on breaks. 

  • To ensure that the Safeguarding Policy is being adhered to during distributions. 

  • Overseeing training of distribution leads.

  • Be a point of contact for both the trainee and whichever leads are training them.

  • Participate in training new Field Coordinators
